A little bit of Ruche' and an apology to my husband..

Ruche is the online store I stumbled across and shared with you a while ago.

I fell in love with their clothing and was shocked at how low most of the price tags were.

Here's my recent treasure the fed ex man delivered yesterday.

Isn't this cute?

Being a SAHM, I'm always looking for something I can throw on with a cute pair of jeans or shorts and not look like a complete slob.

I love how this simple t-shirt comes to life with the little bit of ruffles and the pockets on the sides. I'm not sure if $36.99 is the best price for this shirt but I thought it was so cute I couldn't resist.

Now comes the apology portion of this post.

I was excited to try my new treasure on and asked the hubby to snap a photo for the blog. I'm not sure what possessed me. If you think my photo skills are bad.... well about 15 minutes later and who knows how many photos I decided "forget it" and snapped a photo of myself in the mirror

Now your probably asking yourself "She complained about his photography skills?"

It's ok, one look at this photo and I thought the same thing.

Then as I was downloading and deleting all of the evidence, I saw the very first photo he took of me.

Ok, still not the best photo ever but while looking at it I remembered the requirements I gave him.

I said, "get the whole outfit."

I didn't say, "make me look like I'm 20 again" or "make me look 20 pounds lighter"

I said- "get the whole outfit" and that he did. So sorry honey- love you! ;)

Another Tracy Porter inspired purchase!!

Ok your probably sick of me going on and on about Tracy.

Yes, I call her Tracy, no last name needed.... were tight like that, she just doesn't know it yet.

I could literally spend all day watching the inspiring videos she posts and listening to every word she speaks. I would LOVE to "support the cause" and purchase everything she makes but the lack of funds in the Treasures bank account make it impossible for me to buy anything.

This is where Ross comes in. Remember my last post on the look a like plates I found?? If not, swing by my previous posts and check it out. There weren't any plates this time but I did find these coffee mugs.

$2.99 each, not a bad price tag no? They remind me of her Marseille line. See for yourself.

http://www.tracyporter.com/MARSEILLE-ST4-MUGS-p-18972.html

Not identical but like I said "inspired by" and for a savings of approximately $75 dollars they are close enough! ;)

Since were on the subject of thrifty purchases, check out what the hubby surprised me with on Valentines Day.

Have you ever checked out the prices on ceramic garden stools??? If you answered no your in for a shock. Take this one for instance

I googled the words "ceramic garden stools" I clicked on the link that said affordable home decor. That's when I found the green one above with a sale price tag of $173.00! Now if you were willing to settle for white you could purchase it for $139.95 HA! There were some garden stools for almost $700.00 dollars- $700.00!!! Go ahead, click on the link and see for yourself!

Well, I spied my garden stool at Big lots. Yep, you read that right. You see I got suckered er I mean I volunteered to decorate for my kids Valentine's D.J. Dance party at school so I headed out to Big lots to see what sort of decorations I could score for cheap. That's when I spotted the stool. I didn't buy it that day, nor did I ask the hubby to buy it for me. In fact I was pretty sure he didn't even notice me admiring it. I assumed he was knee deep in a Laker game update on his blackberry. Guess when they say "you shouldn't assume" they are right.

Are you ready for the price tag?? It was a whopping $20.00. No joke!

It's ceramic, has the same cut out design and the raised circles. As far as I can tell the only difference is the color and the price tag. Now I'm not a fan of the blue but that's what they make spray paint for right???

7 things about me....

Ok, so I received this award from Robin at http://robinsgohealth.com/. With this award I am supposed to list 7 things about me that (depending on who you are) you might not know.

I'm also supposed to select 15 other blogs to pass it along to. Believe it or not, I found both of these very difficult to do. For starters, I spend so much time devoted to making sure my children are healthy, happy, well adjusted kids that I don't really spend anytime thinking about me. As for narrowing down my list of blogs to a mere 15 to pass this award to???

WOW- I'm so inspired by the blogs I follow. Each one of them affect me daily. Whether it's striving to be a better mother, sharing in their life struggles, diving in to those D.I.Y projects or listening to what they have to say about God. They stir something inside of me and that's the reason I follow them. I'm not one of those who follows you just to follow you in the hopes that more traffic will come my way. I follow because I care about what you have to share. So I think I might just pass on that portion of the award. Sorry Robin, I hope your ok with that. Who knows- maybe I'll start my own award and give it to each and every one of you.

Alright, here goes the 7....

1) I HATE change!

No not coins, I'm talking about the kind of change that sometimes happens and you have no control over it. The kind that makes things different. Yes, sometimes it's a good different but I still take entirely to long to warm up to it.

2) My dream job would be a Set Decorator
I can't even imagine how much fun I would have finding treasures to go along with what I felt the character would own.

3) I'm that lady.

You know the one that will talk to you while waiting in line. Yep- that's me!

4) I LOVE to travel but I have so much anxiety when it comes to packing.
My husband actually has to talk me through it.

5) I never remember names but I NEVER ever forget a face.

Especially when it comes to actors. It baffles my husband that I can recall who someone is, even if we haven't seen them act since they were a child.

6) Trying to list 7 things about myself has sparked an interest in more self exploration.

7) 15 years ago while at work, a co-worker and I entered into a bet. I don't remember what the bet was but I do remember that the loser had to ask the "new guy" out on a date. I lost the bet.

The "new guy" was my husband. Who knew losing a bet in my 20's would be the best thing that ever happened to me.

Well there you have it. 7 things you probably didn't know about me. Hope you enjoyed!

How sweet is this??

I sat down to check my emails yesterday and look what was waiting for me in my inbox...

My new friend Robin from http://robinsgohealth.com/

was kind enough to give me this award.

I'm thrilled to receive it! I know that my blog doesn't even compare to most of the amazing blogs that are out there. I'm not a writer, my grammar is horrible, my picture quality is poor, my text is plain and I don't even post on a regular basis.

However, when I do post, it's truly about something that matters to me.

So, thank you Robin and thank you to those of you who follow.

You really are Treasures to me.

P.S. Do make sure you stop by and check out Robin's blog. This gorgeous woman gives all kinds of great tips and advice on eating right and working out. One look at her and you'll want to listen to what she has to say on a regular basis!!!

P.S.S. with this award I'm supposed to write a few things that you may not know about me and pass on this award to a few other blogs. Be sure to check back later for that info!!

Treasure's Thursday!!!

I headed out this week to Goodwill for my usual treasure hunt. Usually while treasure hunting I stumble upon all sorts of goodies for the home. This time wasn't like the rest. The shelves were dull and lifeless. Nothing calling out to come home with me except this one lonely tea cup that I thought my Mom would appreciate.

I grabbed the cup and headed for the checkout. I was feeling like it wasn't a very successful trip, when I happened to turn and see the children's racks. They were overflowing with all sorts of clothes. I've never purchased children's clothes at Goodwill. I just never had the patience to search through everything. However today was different. With my new budget "constraints" and my recent trip to the vintage clothing show, I decided to give it a try. To say I hit the Jackpot would be an understatement! Not only did I find name brand, I found name brand in my daughters sizes!!

First there was Juicy!?!!

Followed by Billabong

Then Gymboree

Limited Too

and last but not least, Roxy

I couldn't believe the brand names or the shape they were in!?! Best of all was the price! I purchased all of these brands plus a couple others for a total of 7 articles of clothing (and don't forget the tea cup) for $22.00. $22.00!?!?!

These are all brands/stores that I've purchased from in the past. If she needed clothes, these are the brands we bought. Never mind the price tag. Of course after 2009 I'm not able to shop the way I used to and have to make sure my dollar stretches as far as it can. Well, with an original total of approximately $230.00 give or take a few, I'm more than happy with the over $200.00 savings on this treasure hunt!

Have you been to your local Goodwill lately?

The Vintage Clothing and Textile show

On Sunday my Mother and I drove down to Pickwick Gardens in Burbank, California to attend the Vintage Clothing and Textile show. It was our first time attending a show like this and I have to admit it was a bit overwhelming. Sort of like a child being dumped into the middle of Disneyland without a map. So much to see and so many people! We were told that a lot of stars attend the show but we were unable to spot any. You could however spot the "industry" people. As well as the die hard vintage fans.

I'm in the far right of this photo with the hat and black purse. Apparently my mother and I both noticed the "vintage" fans at the same time. She just happened to be the one with the camera at that moment. ;) Here's a better photo of these ladies.

You wouldn't know it judging by the look on their faces but they were really good sports about posing for a photo.

I didn't have much luck as far as the vintage clothing was concerned.

I think the look on my face says it all as far as these pants are concerned.

This coat was like wearing a couch! It was soooo heavy!! I'm sure there were some great pieces available at this show. It just happened to be the loud and funky ones that kept catching our attention.

Next we moved on to hats. I'm a HUGE hat fan! I currently own 31 hats, I know this because I stopped typing this post to go count them. I'd show you photos but my closet is pretty scary right now so that will have to be a post of it's own another time.

I didn't come home with any of these hats but still had a lot of fun trying them on.
My Mother has an annual Mother's Day Tea Party where it's mandatory to dress Victorian. This would be a perfect hat for the party!

This one had a great paisley band around the top (I wish this photo showed it better) I'd actually wear this hat on vacation somewhere tropical.

This black hat was really cool, but WAY to small for my head so the photo doesn't do it justice.

I wasn't a fan of this blue hat but my Mom really loved the back of it and wanted a photo.

Next was my Mom's turn...

Sporting the floppy purple hat. Which happens to be my Grandmother's "signature" color. The vendor sold it to us for $10.00 so it's on it's way to Grandma's house soon!

This green velvet hat was much cuter in person. Well as much as a bright green hat can be. This one was also $10.00 so my Mother went ahead and bought it to add to her collection of tea party hats.

Last but not least was the jewelry. There was a TON of it! There were probably a hundred cases that were loaded like this one.

There wasn't anything in particular in this display that caught our fancy. We just wanted to have a photo to show of some jewelry. I did find some pieces that I couldn't leave behind.

This cuff was the perfect bronze color with a gorgeous topaz colored stone. Can you see the detail in the wrist portion? It's a flower pattern all through out the metal. LOVED it! And for $30.00 I wasn't leaving it behind!

Another inexpensive find was this ring...

I'm not sure what the stone is or whether it's real or not. I don't even care if it isn't really a vintage piece. I LOVE it! See the detail on the side of the ring?

It was only $10.00 and again for that price, I couldn't leave it behind. After spending several hours maneuvering through the maze of vintage booths and people we decided we'd had enough for one day and headed to lunch.

Which by the way if you've never eaten at Hamburger Hamlets I strongly recommend you put that on your list of things to do! I'm not a burger fan myself but decided to give it a try. I had the
Steakhouse Blue Burger. It was a pepper crusted patty, tomato, Bermuda onion, Wisconsin blue cheese, horseradish sauce and A1 sauce. I had mine minus the horseradish and onions. It was amazing! Not exactly on my list of "clean eating" so I only ate half the burger and filled up on fruit once I got home. Well that was my Sunday- How was yours??
