A little peek...

Here's a small peek at what I've been up to lately...

First up was the trout release program at Lil' Red's school. They raised them from eggs till it was time to release them. More on that to come.

Then there was our first crack at homemade doughnuts.
Ummm it might be our last crack at it as well.

There was a little painting for both Lil' Red and I.

Along with a little gardening. Very excited for our Dwarf Lemon tree but I see we already have little critters!!

Also shopping for pillows and paint for this area as well as trying to talk myself into painting the 3 sets of French doors and 3 fixed windows.
So far, I'm not doing a very good job at it.

If you're wondering why there is no mention of the Lil' Man, well that's because he's almost 13 and unless I pin him down, I'm finding it very hard to keep him around!!!

What have you been up to??

Sidewalk Sunday and a Hill O' Dread update...

Sorry this one has to be quick! I've got waaaay to much to get done today.

If you haven't started browsing the "Free" section on craigslist yet your missing out!!!!

Check out this baby....

FREE!! WTH?!?!  It's almost perfect as is!

So before you hit the yard sales, thrift stores or even the other sections on craigslist,
browse the free section!! You just never know what you might find!

As for the Hill O' Dread.....

It's now cleared and ready for planting

The pool portion is what we're starting with..

We cheated and hired some guys to clear the hill, with intentions of using them for some of the planting too, buuuuut- had a change of heart when we told them..

"Plant these flowers aROUND the rocks."

and....

They actually planted them a ROUND the rock. YIKES!!!

So we decided we'll probably be better off  doing it ourselves.

Here's what it looked like later that evening after Mr. Treasures replanted aROUND the rock ;)

Had to throw this picture in so you can see that  if I just don't look right, I have a pretty view ;)

So much for a quick post huh?? ;)
Hope your enjoying your Sunday!

Some serious blog crushing....

I've literally sat here in front of the computer for the last 30 minutes trying to write this post. I'm finding it hard to  adequately sing this womans praise.  I am just not capable of such a task. Maybe it's because my vocabulary lacks the luster to really convey how I feel or maaaybee it's because I don't want her to change her email and take out a restraining order.

If your not familiar with The Frugal Designer, your missing out!

It is a good thing I don't live closer to her.  I would accomplish even less than I do already!

You MUST go here  and see what she has put together for me, all with a budget in mind!!

I mean really, if she does this for someone she met through blogland a short time ago, can you imagine what she'd be like to hang out with?

Make sure you stalk errr, I mean follow her on facebook, twitter and her blog!!

Trust me, you won't be dissapointed!

A Winner and a Treasure secret!!

I want to start out by saying a big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the giveaway!! I had fun reading everyones comments! I would also like to say Hello to all my new friends! I hope you enjoy your stay here at Treasures!

Now on to the giveaway....

It's comical after 100 posts and a year of blogging, I still can't manage to do a whole h*ll of a lot! So instead of spending some time locating that random site everyone uses to select their winners I decided to kick it old skool....

So I got out paper and pencil and Mr. Treasures and I went to work.

Like the mason jar I scored at the local Goodwill this weekend?

Some of you had up to four chances to win! YAY!!
We put you in the jar and shook you up...
but then I thought "That won't mix them up good enough will it?"
So Mr. Treasures removed his cap and....

dumped you in, stirred you around and then......

Picked the winner!!!

Congrats to Sandy M. from Seasoned Sister!!!!

Here's what Sandy said,

have HOPE!!
 Thanks to this A-M-A-Z-I-N-G woman!!

Instead I will tell you to RUN to her blog and follow along as she is gracious enough to spend her time and knowledge to transform this...

Dirt paradise into something gorgeous!!

I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!!!

Our first pepper and a garden friend...

So I'm not much of a "green thumb" but as you get older you tend to want to give things a try. That mixed with the desire to broaden my daughters horizons, I decided we'd have a fruit and veggie garden. It all started last Christmas. I started with a theme in regards to the gifts we would buy for our kids. Last years theme was "everything outdoors" We purchased a soccer net, a tether ball, skates, jump ropes, etc. For my daughter I purchased a small dresser from an antique store and turned it into a potting bench for her. I can't seem to find the photos I took of it so I'll have to post those later. In the meantime here,s her first bell pepper. I should have photographed the excitement on her face when she saw it! It was priceless.

and our second one!!

Here's some herbs we planted during the summer

and I couldn't believe my eyes when the kids called me out to see this GInormous spider!!!

Go ahead click on the picture- this size just doesn't do it justice!!

Yikes!!
