Treasure Thursday

Time to show you the Treasures I picked up from the Estate sale last weekend!!

First up is this gorgeous coffee table...

$5.00

Along with these two beauties...

I believe they were $4.00 total
I love beat up vases, even if they are only made to look that way and not actually beat up ;)
and how cute is this owl??
One of these days I will have a gorgeous bookcase and he will be proudly perched on a few of my favorite books.

Remember I arrived late in the afternoon to the sale? I don't even want to know what awesome peices left before I arrived, or their low price tags :(
One thing I forgot to share with you during Sidewalk Sunday was this unusual guy....

Can you tell what it is?  When I first glanced up I thought it was a bird. It is acutally what's left of a tree that had once stood there. About 10 years ago the tree caught fire and caught their garage on fire as well.
The city came out and cut the tree down but were unable to figure out a solution for the portion of the tree that grew AROUND the electrical wires.  So they left it!!!
I don't know if you think this is as cool as I do??
Maybe I just don't get out enough? ;)
This next piece I found at a yard sale on our way over to the Estate sale.

She's all wood and only cost me $5.00.
Not sure what color she'll get???

Next up....

MOM IF YOUR READING THIS POST SKIP AHEAD TO THE TREASURES AND DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK!!!

While on the hunt for some tea pots/cups for a really cool Mother's Day gift idea (Thanks to Debbie)

I didn't find ONE tea pot or cup!?! ERRRRR!!!

but I did find...

A really cool vintage suitcase, a new jewelry display, a cool morrocan patterned shelf & and an & sign!

Here's some close ups....

Pretty cool huh?

Oh ya and while trying to find a place in my "studio" a.k.a garage for these new treasures look what I found

This cool galvanized tray. I added a couple of the glass jars I picked up on a recent hunt.
Gotta love it when you find something you forgot you owned!!!

Almost forgot, I'm glad to hear that most of you think I need the trailer and not the intervention

Phew!  That was a close one!

I do think that I maybe need to slooow down a bit on the Treasure hunting and possible start a

Transformation Tuesday!!

So I'll actually start working on these pieces!

Alright, no time to proof read the kiddos get out of school early today!

Where it all started...

You know, I've been all over the place in regards to what I wanted this blog to be, but the one common has been decorating. It's the reason I  found out that the blog world existed. I know I lived in a cave.

It all started in Nov. 2007, we  moved into a new home and I was ready for some decor changes!! I started looking online which led me to Rate My Space. I spent quite a bit of time browsing the good, the bad and the down right ugly!! Mind you I was NEVER one of those rude people to actually say it was ugly. I just simply moved on. Then I found her.... Melaine  from my sweet savannah,  LOVE is all I can say! I drooled over everything she did and one day I realized there was a link to what she called her blog.

Well I don't need to tell you what happened next do I?

You know, you start following one, from there a couple more and before you know it you've got 100 blogs in your dashboard and you've started your own!

So here we are. I'm enjoying every bit of it and what it has to offer. I feel like I am closer to some of you than people actually in my life. Which got me thinking....  Do you even know what my home looks like??  I don't think you do! Maybe you've gotten a glimpse here and there, but I haven't really let you in.

Mostly because I never did get to make those changes I wanted to.  I don't like much that's going on here decor wise so it's never been a priority to share it with you. I'm going to try and be a little better about that but to be honest I'm not ready to just JUMP in!

Sooo I decided instead of showing you where I'm at now, I'll show you where it all started...

This is the entry way to the Treasure's families first home. This was a tiny house but a HUGE home.

This is where I brought both of my children home.

Ok well sort of,  Lil Man was 3 months old ;)

This is the home where they both had their first birthday parties,

 learned to swim,

had their first day of school,

oh I could go on and on.

I didn't want to leave and although he loved it, it never quite had a hold on Mr. Treasures heart the same way it did mine.

This home didn't just hold sentimental value for the family reasons, it was also the home where I discovered my passion for decorating. It's where I got to live creatively and artfully.

I decided I'm going to drag this out as long as possible.

Hopefully giving me enough time to make a few changes to the new home before I share it with you ;)

I'll give you little pieces  here and there  so make sure you stop back by to see a little more of

Where it all started.

Sidewalk Sunday part 1 and NOW part 2!!

( If you stopped by earlier Sunday you saw the first portion of this post already but you won't want to miss what i've added so scroll past what you've already seen!!!)

Alright I have to keep this one short. It was my kids school carnival yesterday which made for a busy day!

Which left me tired! Plus it's a beautiful day outside and I already promised my Mom I'd help her with a little project at her home.

Speaking of yesterdays carnival, while on my way there bright and early I saw this...

and thought "OH NO! I'm going to miss it"
I've never been to an Estate sale before. I know strange, right?

Anyhow about 6 hours later when I decided I needed a break from the carnival, I headed home only to see..

I hadn't missed it entirely!!!

So I can't show you what I bought until Treasures Thursday of course but would you believe these nice 2 ladies GAVE me this...

Ok not the greatest photos but give me a break, I was severely sleep deprived and my ears were still ringing from the carnival. I asked the ladies "how much for the picnic table and benches?"

"Those" she said "oh you can have those"
Who hooo for my first Estate Sale!!!

Next up is a set of chairs and a table I scored FREE off of craigslist. It's the same set I was talking about Mr. Treasures driving 45 minutes one way after working a full day to pick up for me.
Speaking of Mr. Treasures...

Yep It's Yard work day so he is sporting his pants!!! HA!! I'd love to know what our neighbors think!!

Anyhow back to the table and chairs...

Here they are (well at least two of the chairs- remember I said i'm tired)

Look at the detail in this set!?!
Here's a look at what the legs of the table look like...

Now the only problem is this set sits extremely low to the ground. I'm talking low.
From the floor to the top of the table is 26" from the floor to the seat portion of the chairs is just over 15"
So I'm thinking this set would be better suited for a lounge area maybe an outdoor table where low seating would feel more relaxed??

What's your thoughts?

Angie

Ok here's part 2

I'm going to be as brief as possible for those of you who might being seeing part 1 and part 2 for the first time. Here it goes, after my first Sidewalk Sunday post I ran out with Mr. Treasures to run an errand. While on our way home I spotted something down a side street. I begged Mr. Treasures to turn around and well after what i've been posting about him lately you all know it wasn't much begging to convince him.

First place was a jackpot and it's where I met Randy.  Randy is a fellow furniture fan and also loves to help families in need as well as a couple childrens organizations. If these aren't reasons enough to like Randy, well then maybe this will give you the nudge you need.  He gave me the following for FREE:

Amazing right?!?! Wait till you see the table that I'll be buying from him soon!!!

Now what I didn't tell you was, when we were turning around to go back to Randy's we turned up another side street. That is where I found this....

A faux fireplace just sitting out at the curb waiting for someone with a vision to scoop it up.
Guess the Trash Gods where shinning down on me today.

Now after packing up everything from Randy's place, swinging back by to grab this Treasure, we were headed to the main road when we saw this little guy sitting by a trash can...

And at the house next door....

And her little sister...

The tops on these are some sort of pretend marble. Those will be the first thing to go.

Here's what the poor car looked like once we got home...

I either need a trailer or an intervention.

Which one do you think????

Time for Treasures Thursday!

As promised I'm back with this weeks Treasures!! Since i've already posted once today I'll try to keep this brief.  First up

This little lovey is almost perfect as is. The GIANT pots behind her are making her appear smaller than she actually is. She'd make a great end table in a tight space or next to a reading chair. With her $5 price tag you've gotta love her!

Next on the list is...

This GIANT frame cost $20 and measures 29 inches by 43 inches.

and is perfect as is!
I plan on removing the picture and hanging the frame on a wall in my home.

There was also....

The Goodwill JACKPOT!!!
This dresser has 9 drawers and look at the handles...

aren't those gorgeous!! I know!!

BIG plans for her!!

This next Treasure was from a neighborhood garage sale,

She cost me a whopping $5 and I think she'll look fabulous painted cream and then lightly distressed!

From that same garage sale I scored this to....

There's actually 2 of them but one of them needs a little work.
Can you see the photo that came with it!?!?
Here's a closer look,

That  is THE actual house the corbels came from!?! Isn't the photo beautiful???
I couldn't believe my neighbor was willing to part with these and for $7 bucks no less!?!
She told me where this home was located and that her sister lived in it for a time. The local fire department was going to use it as a burn house so they went there, took the photo and removed the corbels.
I was so mesmerized by the story and the fact she was giving these away that I couldn't even remember the State the house was in. She promised I could come back later and write it all down.
I adore this Treasure the most.

Next we have,

The $10 craigslist bueaty. Yep you read that right TEN DOLLARS!?!
The metal clawfeet on this one have to be worth more than that.

There were a few more Treasures I scored. Those were posted on my facebook fanpage a couple of days ago. Stop by and check them out if you want!!

Last up, your gonna like this one!

In honor of Earth Day....

Meet my inner hippie

I decided to rock the 70's headband trend today along with my groovy shirt!
Don't ask about the color combo- it's laundry day! ;)

Peace out!

P.S. You MUST stop by My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia not just because of the awesome giveaway but also because she has A-MAZ-ING style!! Trust me you won't want to miss it!!

Earth Day photos and a Mr. Treasures update...

I'm working on putting together the Treasures Thursday post to show you everything I've picked up this week but, I reeeally wanted to do a post in honor of Earth Day.  So Treasures Thursday will have to wait until later on today.

It seems like everyone in blogland has got you covered as far as the "Green" choice you could be making. I've seen everything today from clothing, cleaning products to suggestions on what you can do to cut down on your negative impact.

I felt like you didn't need me to point you in any direction as far as that's concerned.

Instead I'll just post some photos that i've taken recently.

Hope you enjoy them! Don't forget to stop by later this afternoon to see my Treasures!!

I LOVE each of these photos as is but imagine if I acutally knew how to use photoshop!?!
I think they'd be amazing even if I do say so myself!

Happy Earth Day!

Oh ya almost forgot!

You remember yesterdays post right?

Well, after Mr. Treasures read it he first told me it made him emotional (insert sigh here)
then of course he said something to the affect of "After reading what you wrote I wanted to marry me"
Which got me thinking....
It's easy to post all the great stuff,
maybe I should share just a few things off the list of

"What doesn't make me happy"

Ya don't ask why his nice comments made me think of posting this list.

I can rarely make sense of myself!

It's a short list but here it goes...

1) The WORST case of adult A.D.D. you will EVER witness!!
You know that saying "if it's not attached to him he'll lose it"? Ya well in Mr. Treasures case even if it IS attached to him you can bet he'll figure out a way to lose it!

2) The man does NOT know how to shut a cupboard
Dear Lord this one drives me nuts!!

3) He'll drive 3 blocks out of the way to NEVER stop at a red light!
No kidding, there's no telling what kind of detour the man will take in order to keep "makin' the green"

I guess I wanted to make sure you all know he's human!

He's not perfect but he's oh so close!!

Just keepin it real
