A birthday and a milestone

So It's Lil Red's birthday today!!

9 years ago today my perfectly bald, 6 pd 5 oz daughter was born!!

From the start she has always been a loving, fiesty, quirky little girl with a great sense of humor.

Who often insisted on dressing herself!

and there was no convincing her to change her clothes!

She certainly had always March-ed to her own beat.  Get it? "March" ;)

Lil Red has always loved swimming,

    Sports....

and animals of all kinds...

and she's always willing to help a friend...

She is one special girl!

The brown thing on her head is a skirt with an elastic waist. She called it her "hair" and she wore this everywhere for about a year and a half. She used to ask me to put it in a ponytail and a bun. I have to admit it was pretty genius on her part to come up with her own solution for a lack of growth that neither of us could control.
She is one fantastic kid that I am so proud to call my daughter.

As for the milestone I referred to in the title, well in case you didn't notice it's Treasure's 100th post!!
I'm thinking a give away might be in order???
I'll be back with details tomorrow! For now, I'm off to take cupcakes to Lil Red's class so they can help her celebrate!!

A weekend update and a little bit of progress

So last week I told you Lil Red was going to Laker Fan Jam with her father. She was sooo excited. Even more so than I've seen her on Christmas morning!! Sadly that excitement was short lived. After a 2 hour wait just to get in the building Lil Red was O.V.E.R. it!

From there it just went from bad to worse! The Lakers that were promised to be there weren't. The line to get a drink had over 100 people in it and if you wanted to meet the lakers that did show up??  Well you were looking at a possible 3 hour wait in line.

Remember those shirts "My Parents went to (insert vaca spot here) and all I got was this lousy t-shirt"???

I think it's safe to say that's how she felt about this next photo...

He was supposed to be there.
This was the closest she got to her favorite Laker.

This next photo is Lil Red scanning the event. Can you see the bubble above her head that says....
"Really? this is what I stood in line for all these hours for???"

Atleast she had a TON of one on one time with Dad!!

Now it's the Lil Man's turn.

Remember how I told you he's taking MMA classes?

Well Thursday is picture day for this class. No big deal right?

WRONG!!
Like all MMA fighters Lil Man needs a nickname!!
We have NO idea what to choose so this should be interesting trying to find one that suits him.

Ok now it's time for an update on a few pieces from the Treasure collection!

First up...

Mrs. Mirror has been sanded and now is sporting a bit of primer. We stopped at this point and decided that with as much furniture we had to paint it would probably be a good idea to invest in a sprayer.
So we decided to move on and prep some other pieces.

After a TON of sanding I remembered a post I'd read here, written by Centsational Girl.
After putting two furniture strippers to the test she came to the conclusion that

Citristrip was the way to go. So we slapped some on this dresser.

You can see the Before photo in a post I did quite some time ago. Let's just say I might have procrastinated just a bit on this one!
It went on so easy we decided to go ahead and slap a little on the adorable desk from yesterdays post too!

Then we sat back and waited a bit. Can I just tell you how much I LOVE Citristrip!?!?
After just a couple of hours it came off   "like butta"

Really!!!  It was that easy!
The hardest part of this project was catching this guy...

For some reason he desperately wanted to attack us!!
I have a strick "don't bother me and I won't bother you" policy when it comes to all of Mother Natures creatures but this guy would NOT let up!
After a good solid 20 minutes of dodging his every efforts Mr. Treasure's and I had had enough!

The battle was on!

Oh how I wish I would have had the video camera to catch the duel that was taking place in my garage!!
Mr. Treasure's victory dance alone was enough to make you double over in laughter!
Sadly I was not prepared so I only have the after photo to show you.

Sidewalk Sunday

So it happened again....

Much sooner than expected. Are you ready for the story??

Sit back grab a cup of Jo, here we go...

My mother just recently returned home from vacationing in England and Paris.

Cool photo isn't it??

Well, Mom's a little worn out from the vacation.

Isn't it funny how you always seem to need a vacation after the vacation??

Anyhow, we currently share custody of her vacuum. Yes I consider it sharing even though I hide it at my house until she begs for me to bring it back.

Don't judge me!! it's a really good vacuum.

Not sure at what point my life became all about the quality of a vacuum?!?!

Well she called and asked for it back. Normally I'd have the hubs just drive it over and drop it off but this time I thought "I should vaccum for her."

So I loaded it up, headed over and took care of it. Well I'd like to think that because of this I was rewarded. You see when I went to leave her home the most adorable children's desk ever had just been placed at the curb of a nearby home.

As soon as I backed out of the driveway I heard him call to me. He said "Aaaaangieeee, please take me home with you."

He was so cute and although he was dirty I saw his potential.  I'm also a sucker for a cute boy so how could I say no???

Here he is.....

Look at his cute little details....

I can't wait to start working on him. He'll have to wait just a little bit longer since i'm still finishing up
Mrs. Mirror that I brought home just the other day. If you happened to miss that post you can check her out here

Also if you'd like to see a few more of the vacation photos stop by my facebook fan page!

Happy Sunday everyone!!

Treasures Thursday!!

Sorry this has to be a quick post. I'm off to go treasure hunting with a great friend. I'm so excited!!
Usually I'm solo on these excursions.

Up this week is this unique picnic table

She's not your average picnic table. Take a look at her legs

Tell me those don't make you giddy???   She's VERY sturdy too! Like I said not your average flimsy picnic tables. She also came with two 6 foot long benches with her same gorgeous legs!!

I HAD to own her! She was $40 for everything. What do you think, to much?
I was so starry eyed I couldn't even haggle. I happily handed over my $40 and loaded her in the s.u.v.
Not sure what color she'll end up with but I do know she's not going  anywhere! I'll be keeping this gem for the kiddos in their play area.
Oh I can't wait!!

Stop back by tomorrow so I can fill you in on how Lil Red's Lakers Fan Jam day turned out!!!

Angie

P.S. Can anybody tell me where spell check is?? I changed up the post options and now I don't see spell check anywhere?? Can't tell you how crucial that is for me! HA!!!

Another Sidewalk Sunday!!!

It's been over a month now since I first noticed her.

She was being held captive between two trash cans and subject to the strange weather we've been having.
I won't bore you with all the details of how she became mine.

Here's the condensed version,

I asked- they said yes- I brought her home.

I'm thinking she would make a really cute addition to a childs room. A cute mirror for when it's needed and then a chalk board on the back side??

On the bottom she has the most adorable little compartments where the chalk and eraser could be stored.

 Isn't she cute?
Maybe the mirror side could hold brushes and hair accessories?
I've already sanded her down for the most part and am now trying to decide on a color.
Any suggestions??

Linked up with The Shabby Nest!

The Shabby nest is having a frugal friday link party. You can check it out here. I am knee deep in projects that have not been transformed yet so I decided to link up with an old post I did called "Sidewalk Sunday." If you missed it you can check it out now.

I can't believe it almost the weekend again!?! Remember how busy my last one was?? Well, once again the house looks like I haven't touched it in weeks. The yards and pool are in desperate need of attention and as for the kiddos?? Well, Lil Red is a HUGE

fan, so dad is taking her to the Laker Fan Jam this weekend. She's already given the list of who she will be most excited about seeing,

    Getting a photo with...

and her number 1 pick for an autograph..

She got a Pau Gasol jersey for Christmas one year and can not wait to have him sign it! She's so funny! This
should be a blast for her!  And rank right up there with the time I took her to meet Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas. It's a long post about "where did the time go" so if you just want to see her and Fergie Ferg and an adorable video of her singing "My Humps" then scroll down to the bottom of the post!

As for the Lil Man well, he still has MMA class and now it's his turn for a friends Bday party. Looks like I'll be left home alone with plenty of time to do all the chores. YAY.

Could you feel my enthusiasm??

Treasure Thursday!!

Sorry, It's been quite a while since i've posted one of these. I'm hoping to be on a bi-weekly basis and host a linky party as well. We'll see how that works out!  In the meantime, take a look at some of things I've found during the hunt!

First up is a gorgeous urn I found at the local Goodwill. I didn't do anything with it except plunk some ivy down into it.

Urn $4.00
Ivy $.99

Next up is a set of original 16 x 20 black and white photographs mounted on whiteboard. I found these at a local thrift store. I rarely shop there but after these finds I'll be headed back for sure. There were approximately 30  photograhs that were taken by a college student in 1967. His name was W. Delmor Boal. I googled him and it said he was a self employeed photographer all of his adult life. The two photos I purchased have the date stamped on the back of them and Delmor's writing on the back stating which project it was.
The first one is of the entrance gates of Cal Poly in 1967

Isn't that a gorgeous photo? The next one is labeled "Tree and fire plug at L.A. County Fair"
When did they call a hydrant a plug?

The photo below is a shattered section of wooden water main that was dug up in recent years. The hole bored into it is believed to be that of a "fire plug", city of Cincinnati, Ohio, early 1800s.

Never knew that! If you want to read more go here

Here's a photo showing his writing on the back.

And both of them together so you can get an idea of just how large they are

The photos were only $3.00 each. How great of a price is that for original artwork??

Next were a couple of items I scored at a yard sale on my way home from Lil Red's fashion show last weekend.
Came home with these two for under $5.00

Next up, a couple of weeks ago our church was having a rummage sale. I'd forgotten all about it but thanks to facebook I saw a post from the church while the sale was going on.  I hopped in the car and headed down.
There was A LOT of little stuff like this small frame for

$.25
and this small mirror for

$.10

I figured with a coat of paint they will make some nice little treasures to own. Unfortunately all the big items and furniture were snatched up before I got there. :(
I did come home with this cast iron umbrella holder

For only $10.00
One can of spray paint and this was WELL worth the price!
I also found this shelving unit made of metal. Not the bendable cheap stuff, I'm talking heavy duty!
She's not that pretty in her original form

I figured for $10.00 I could see what I could do to pretty her up!
Never mind the "projects" in the background that are waiting to be tackled!
Here's a close up of her detial

and this too

Well that's it. Or atleast that's all I can remember finding since my last post!
Before you go, here's one more sneak peak of something I'll be using in the transformation that's taking place in the Treasure's household.

Can you guess what it is?
