Treasure Thursday!!

Sorry, It's been quite a while since i've posted one of these. I'm hoping to be on a bi-weekly basis and host a linky party as well. We'll see how that works out!  In the meantime, take a look at some of things I've found during the hunt!

First up is a gorgeous urn I found at the local Goodwill. I didn't do anything with it except plunk some ivy down into it.

Urn $4.00
Ivy $.99

Next up is a set of original 16 x 20 black and white photographs mounted on whiteboard. I found these at a local thrift store. I rarely shop there but after these finds I'll be headed back for sure. There were approximately 30  photograhs that were taken by a college student in 1967. His name was W. Delmor Boal. I googled him and it said he was a self employeed photographer all of his adult life. The two photos I purchased have the date stamped on the back of them and Delmor's writing on the back stating which project it was.
The first one is of the entrance gates of Cal Poly in 1967

Isn't that a gorgeous photo? The next one is labeled "Tree and fire plug at L.A. County Fair"
When did they call a hydrant a plug?

The photo below is a shattered section of wooden water main that was dug up in recent years. The hole bored into it is believed to be that of a "fire plug", city of Cincinnati, Ohio, early 1800s.

Never knew that! If you want to read more go here

Here's a photo showing his writing on the back.

And both of them together so you can get an idea of just how large they are

The photos were only $3.00 each. How great of a price is that for original artwork??

Next were a couple of items I scored at a yard sale on my way home from Lil Red's fashion show last weekend.
Came home with these two for under $5.00

Next up, a couple of weeks ago our church was having a rummage sale. I'd forgotten all about it but thanks to facebook I saw a post from the church while the sale was going on.  I hopped in the car and headed down.
There was A LOT of little stuff like this small frame for

$.25
and this small mirror for

$.10

I figured with a coat of paint they will make some nice little treasures to own. Unfortunately all the big items and furniture were snatched up before I got there. :(
I did come home with this cast iron umbrella holder

For only $10.00
One can of spray paint and this was WELL worth the price!
I also found this shelving unit made of metal. Not the bendable cheap stuff, I'm talking heavy duty!
She's not that pretty in her original form

I figured for $10.00 I could see what I could do to pretty her up!
Never mind the "projects" in the background that are waiting to be tackled!
Here's a close up of her detial

and this too

Well that's it. Or atleast that's all I can remember finding since my last post!
Before you go, here's one more sneak peak of something I'll be using in the transformation that's taking place in the Treasure's household.

Can you guess what it is?

Angie

Angie, I found you over at "Confessions of a Curbshopaholic"! I love your blog! How funny, my blog that I am not currently writing but still have is called "Digging For Treasure". Anyway, I am commenting on this post (after 30 minutes of scrolling through your blog) because I love these pictures. I went to Cal Poly and would love to know what thrift shop you got them in. Here is my email addy so you can send it privately. Thanks, LeAnne
